Ibon

  • 22/12/2021

Arruazu

Ibon is not from Arruazu. In fact, he was born in San Sebastian and has been living with his own family in Alegia, Gipuzkoa, for many years now. However, Ibon is the main "culprit" for the fact that we have stopped in Arruazu.
His father was born in one of the houses in the village and some of his family and friends live there. The connection he has with the village is very strong. Memories of a very happy childhood emerge as soon as he sets foot in the village. He spent part of his childhood playing in its streets, walking through its forests, looking for fossils, bathing in the river, running from one house to another...

His voice changes when he tells us that his parents sold the house where they enjoyed their weekends and holidays. This relationship with the village continues to make us question what it means to "be from the village". It is clear that Ibon loves the village, appreciates it and enjoys it whenever he can. He cherishes all those memories with great affection. A walk with him through its streets is to get to know anecdotes, part of the history of the village, the houses that are empty, etc. It is a nostalgic trip to the happiest past a child could have had. We hope that in the future he will be able to return to have a little house or corner to continue enjoying Arruazu with his family and friends.
